Account Deletion

FileBuddy allows users to delete their account and associated data at any time. This policy outlines how to request account deletion and how your data is handled.

1. How to Delete Your Account In-App (Self-Service)

If you have access to your FileBuddy account, you can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the app:

  1. Log in to your FileBuddy account on the web or mobile app.
  2. Navigate to Account Settings (Profile Settings).
  3. Scroll down to the 'Delete Account' section.
  4. Click 'Delete Account' and enter your account password to confirm.

2. How to Request Account Deletion via Web or Email

If you no longer have the app installed, cannot log in, or prefer to request deletion via web, you may request deletion by contacting us:

  • Submit a support ticket through our public Support Desk specifying 'Account Deletion Request' and your account email address.
  • Email our support team directly at support@cloudstorage.test with your account details.

3. Types of Data Deleted

When your account deletion is processed, the following data is permanently erased:

  • Account Profile: Your name, email address, password hash, two-factor authentication factors, and profile settings.
  • Files & Storage: All stored files, folders, document versions, media assets, previews, and generated thumbnails.
  • Shares & Links: Active public share links, file request links, and recipient permissions.
  • Sessions & API: Connected devices, OAuth access tokens, active browser sessions, and passkey credentials.

4. Data Retained & Retention Periods

Some limited data may be retained for specific compliance or security reasons:

  • Financial & Transaction Records: Billing history, invoices, and payment IDs are retained for up to 7 years to satisfy statutory tax, accounting, and legal requirements.
  • Security & Audit Logs: Server connection logs and security event logs are retained for up to 90 days for fraud prevention and system protection, after which they are automatically purged.

5. Processing Timeframe

Self-service in-app account deletion takes effect immediately. Manual deletion requests submitted via web or email are verified and fulfilled within 30 calendar days.
